In this post i want to share a bit about qigong a.k.a chi kung.last 2 weeks i went to qigong 2-days course organize by local sifu, dr. amir.he's been studying and practicing qigong for about 15 years.he's been to all over chian to learn about qigong. most of chinese practice qigong in their daily life,as a routine.qigong is derived from two different words.
Qi is a description of relationship between men/organism, energy and spirit. Everything has its own Qi or chi. It also involves 'breathing', "air", "gas" and "vapor"(en.wikipedia.org)
Meanwhile, Gong is achievement or results(en.wikipedia.org). Hence, Qigong is the art of manipulating energy and bringing the energy into ourself or any living organism.
As i learned from the course, there are 2 main concerns in the qigong which are; exercises and breathing. In qigong, everything must be done consciously, which is through breathing. E.g when walking, we usually just walk and go with the flow, even can fall asleep..that's why there's a sleepwalker.we dont even need our consciousness while walking. In qigong, when we walk...we walk with qigong walk..which involves deep inhale and exhale..through your "TUMMY".
Why tummy?cause when we inhale through our nose deeply, our ribs will expand then there's no more room for extra oxygen..when we inhale through our tummy, there's plenty of room for additional oxygen for our ribs..try that..you'll know..
Throughout the ages, in china qigong has been known as the art of exercise for reversing cancer. there are certain exercise that can expand your spinal,joint even benefit for sex life..There are many types of qigong and several technics,which i will explain in my next post.... :)
